La Cucina Tex-Mex
Overview
La Cucina Tex-Mex is a food truck planning to operate in the town of Mussomeli, Italy, owned and operated by an American couple.
As the owner’s family originated from South America before moving to Texas, their plan for the food truck was to lean more toward the Mexican influence of Tex-Mex, as they were more familiar with that style of cuisine but kept the label to allow them to be more experimental.
Logo Design
To start with, the logo needed to inform the viewer what to expect, which was cuisine despite having some American influence was more Hispanic in nature. As the clients did not have an exact concept of how to express that idea, they requested some rough drafts to help understand the direction they wanted to go. After conversing with them about the drafts, they found some elements which they preferred, like the color scheme used on two of the drafts, the border used on one, and the horseman on another draft which they wanted to have the look or feel from another project of mine.
Menu
The menu was intended to be rather simple initially, as the final selection of items had not been decided and the food truck was planned to start with only a small selection. As a result, the menu was designed with the intention to be modified later.
Food Truck
The client requested that I confirm the logo could fit the side of the vehicle which they wanted to use which was a Piaggio ape (à·pe means bee in Italian). To go about this, I made an illustrated version of an ape in part to practice, since I could not find a photoshop candidate that was adequate.
